Toxic Media Part III - Deception by the U.S. House of Reps - Toxic Decisions!
By Edward Biamonte - Fujah Magazine Http://www.fujah.com "Just Right"
Transparency really depends on what your definition of Transparency is... ? The issue at hand? The outrageous deception by the US House of Representatives Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Moderate Republicans concerning HR2454 - The Obama, Waxman, Markey, Pelosi Energy Bill. You will be shocked! By the way did anyone report it? Where was the press? This is a classic example of the media not doing their job. Had they reported in total about the lack of transparency concerning the Energy Bill HR2454 it would have never made it to the Senate. When the media fails to be objective and report the facts this is what will happen, toxic decisions. Remember from Mein Kampf, "Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favorable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favorable to its own side.”
In retrospect, passionate about revealing the abuse (the Middle Class) suffered in 2007 at the hands of oil speculators in the commodities exchange, candidate Obama’s 2008 rhetoric included $5 for a gallon of gas was perfectly fine. From that point on I have had to hesitate at anything Obama and the Democrats would conceive concerning energy.
Fast forward to June 2009 and the day before the energy bill went to the floor in the House of Representatives. I decided to tweet concerning HR2454 to see how many people would respond. Aghast that the press and the public was more concerned with South Carolina Governor Sanford’s affair and tawdry details than an Energy Bill. I decided to go Nuclear. What is in HR2454? Because I’d heard that it would change America forever and cause every family in the US to pay $1,200.00 more in taxes. But no one really knew exactly what was in the bill at the time of the vote. Who was behind HR2454? President Obama, Congressmen Waxman, Markey and Pelosi.
Chairman Henry A. Waxman and Subcommittee Chairman Edward J. Markey introduced H.R. 2454. “The American Clean Energy and Security Act" is a comprehensive energy bill known as "ACES," that includes a cap-and-trade global warming reduction plan designed to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent by 2020.
So who is Henry Waxman? As stated on his web site: “Representative Henry A. Waxman represents California's 30th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu, Westlake Village and West Hollywood, as well as such areas of Los Angeles as Beverly-Fairfax, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Beverlywood, Topanga, Agoura, Chatsworth, West Hills, Canoga Park, and Westwood. In January 2009, Rep. Waxman became the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. From 1979 to 1994, he chaired the Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Health and the Environment, and served as the Subcommittee's Ranking Member in 1995 and 1996. A leader on health and environmental issues... and community rights to know about pollution levels.”
Representative Edward J. Markey’s web states, “Markey chairs the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming and the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Since Speaker Pelosi appointed Rep. Markey chairman in 2007. Rep. Markey's career of activism and effectiveness spans three decades, since he was first elected to represent Massachusetts' seventh Congressional district in 1976. In addition to chairing key energy and environment panels, Rep. Markey is a senior member of the Natural Resources Committee.”
Both Henry Waxman and Nancy Pelosi are representatives from California. Isn’t California the state that is currently bankrupt due to poor fiscal discipline? The state who is giving IOU’s instead of checks because they can’t pay their bills? Responsible for Green legislation that denies Second Amendment rights? And the home of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA? The Ninth Circuit is by far the largest of the thirteen courts of appeals with 29 active judgeships. The court's regular meeting places are Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Pasadena and is without any doubt the most activist with liberal area of jurisdiction.
So it apprears these brilliant socialists are going to tell the rest of the nation what are the best energy policies for the U.S? Why in Heavens name would any logical person want to support the Waxman - Markey Bill HR2454? Using the most popular form of current urban communication (Facebook and Twitter) I decided to find out, polling Fujah’s some-2,000 “friends and followers”. It was evident by the “posts” and “tweets” that only a handful of people new about HR2454 and what was about to take place in the U.S. House. Those who knew about the energy bill, did they really know what was in the bill that was being forced on the floor of the House by Madam Pelosi? No. Did the public know what the Democratic-controlled house was about to do? No. It was very clear the public had no idea about the Energy Bill or didn’t seem to care... The question is, why? Could it be the general public’s source for what’s happening, what’s bad, and what’s worse; could it be the press and the media did not tell them? Remember, “The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward.”
But that’s not all. It even gets more abhorrent. Waxman, Congresswoman Madam Pelosi and the Democrats did another stall and drop, a third one, at the last minute before the House of Reps was to go on Summer recess. The Bill HR2454, over 1,200 pages, was Amended the day of the vote at 3:09 a.m. The same tactic Pelosi used concerning the Stimulus Bill, (the one that’s currently under fire for spending abuses and not creating jobs it was mandated) was being used again for the Energy Bill. As I “tweeted” and posted I decided to watch part of the debate in the House of Reps concerning HR2454 and began to ask the public to call there Reps and tell their Reps to vote “no” concerning the “ACES” Bill.
Normally I don’t have the luxury of watching our House of Reps debate because like most Americans I’m out grinding away to make the next buck. Bitten by the bug of curiosity and no trust for the brilliance of Congress I decided to tune in on the debate. In doing so I was shocked, then outraged, then hopeful, then dismayed as the final tally indicted eight moderate conservatives who are now a part of the stench that denied the proper vetting of the Energy Bill HR2454.
The denial of any transparency concerning ACES and the awareness that a 300 plus page Managed Amendment had been added to HR2454 the day of the vote at 3:09 a.m. mandated complete media outrage. But where was the press? Only a couple of outlets brought the full story to the public while most made mention a new Energy Bill that was passed by the house and sent to the Senate as if it were a landmark of constructive policy. There was no mention of the lack of ethics and transparency by the Democratic controlled House of Representatives.
If transparency is supposed to be Obama’s ethical gold standard the current administration begs the question, what is your definition of transparency? In retrospect concerning the press, the media and the current administration, if hiding information worked for Obama in the last election cycle and the Stimulus Bill it might as well work for HR2454? Therefore, transparency really depends on what your definition of transparency is.
Question. Why wasn’t the press all over the ridiculous charade called ACES? Perhaps the press allowed the absurd pretense and intended to create a pleasant or respectable appearance by Democratic politicians in their reporting? After all the Dems were working hard, pressing the vote concerning HR2454... Another question I have is how the 1,200+ page bill that was amended by 300+ more pages, which had yet to be united into one 1,500+ page bill, could be voted on in the first place?
Shocked and floored at what I witnessed, that the last-minute Democrats, the House Majority, had failed to have a proper copy of the bill on the floor of the House of Reps so the bill could properly be debated, I watched with disgust as Waxman and his supporters stood with arrogant defiance, unrepentant for their actions that created this tragic comedy. Democrats shamelessly denied a copy to the Conservatives and pushed their agenda on the American people simply because they have a majority. So much for checks and balances? And where were our watchdogs? The press? Remember- "Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favorable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favorable to its own side.”
Minority House Reps took the time to at least question the House Chair about where the 300+ page managed amendment might be? And, if they could get a copy. Around 5 p.m. ET, and to his credit, Minority Leader John Boehner began to read some of the 300+ page Managed Amendment that the House Democrats pushed to a vote. I just love to bring up the point- that no one was able to read the bill they all voted on! I really want this to sink way down deep into your memory and perhaps stir up a bit of emotion because you have every right to Scream - “What are you morons doing?”
Now - as John Boehner read parts of the managed amendment it revealed that the EPA will have full authority to make rules – that no one – not even the Congress could change concerning green issues which the EPA mandates. Example: For new houses or old houses, before they can be sold the house would have to meet current EPA standards held in California. Really, houses will have to be made according to California standards. And no State Legislation could change the EPA requirements mandated; therefore, removing any authority by the people to manage their affairs concerning energy or green issues. I became hopeful at this point, the points that Boehner the Minority leader was making were rational. No logical thinking person could vote to pass a bill that has no regard for the U.S Constitution and the Congress, logical – right? No one in their right mind would vote for a bill under these conditions if they wanted to be re-elected in 2010? No one could be that stupid! Unless you are a cool aid automaton that is a straight line party voter. Just as the realization that there was intelligent life in our Congress, my thoughts were turned to dismay as I watched the vote on HR2454.
Eight moderate Republicans voted with 211 Democrats for the comedy of the century. Here are their names and office phone numbers. Bono Mack (CA) 202-225-5330, Castle (DE) 202-225-4165, Kirk (IL) 202-225-4835, Lance (NJ) 202-225-5361, Lobiondo (NJ) 202-225-6572 , McHugh (NY) 202-225-4611, Reichart (WA) 202-225-7761, Chris Smith (NJ) 202-225-3765. The upside, 47 Democrats voted with the Republicans. This means there will be great pressure in the Senate on Democrats to defend the disaster called HR2454.
The Democrats tried to deceive the public and take away the rights of the states and the people, with a bill that was not properly vetted. This all-too-familiar tactic will bring great change in 2010 that should bring balance back to our government. Can anyone who voted for this bill possibly survive their decision in the 2010? Quite frankly their brilliance is beyond me. However, if their perception is that the media is the bag for them and if the public doesn’t get the whole, complete story, then they might perceive the chances might be in their favor. Yet, one has to know that their opponents are going to go to the tapes and show their constituents the brilliance they displayed concerning the people’s business with HR2454.
The reasonable news is, the Democrats barley passed HR2454 to the US Senate. Just to reiterate - a bill that the House of Reps or the public had no idea as to what is really in it. For you, it’s ok to scream at the Liberals and the press for their blatant disrespect and apathy to serve you without any proper ethical standard. However, the press, what should be done about the popular press? Tune them out and look for outlets that are bringing all the news, the facts, with no opinion commentary. News brings in a balance of both sides of an issue, and reports hard facts.
In final response, as an independent conservative, one of those Reagan Democrats that is totally frustrated with both parties, I want the House of Representatives to yell and scream at each other with proper cause and due diligence, aggressive and introspective review, concerning every bill. I want them to pore over every word that’s in a bill to be passed into law. And I want the press to be objective and do their job to make sure the government is being forthright!
What I saw was deception, hindrance and a blatant disrespect for the process of representative government - the House of People for the People was turned into a stage of comedic tragedy. It’s my perception the Democrats in the of House hid the truth to protect their agenda from proper criticism, which is both cowardly and unethical. Furthermore, the press was responsible for not taking them to task; yet, once again hiding the truth.
If the news outlet you watch has not reported on the egregious acts committed in the U.S House of Representatives, they just might be propagandist. “The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward.” - Adolph Hitler
It stands to reason, we as a country must move forward in all elements of energy refinement. We can start by accessing the trillions of metric tons in natural gas as well as the billions of barrels of crude oil, Clean Coal from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and in so doing delete our dependence on foreign oil and energy. We can also use the money to pay off the $780 billion Stimulus Bill the Democrats rushed through Congress without proper vetting which, to date, is the greatest example of Toxic Waste. We can create electricity by bringing online new nuclear technology that runs our air craft carriers and half of France, as well as wind and solar. What is logical, the obvious – we must use every resource we can and in so doing make it as economically affordable to all citizens of the greatest and most giving nation on earth – the good old USA.
